The Gamma Phield Day poster was designed with a simple color pallet to compliment the fall field day event. We wanted to visually represent the biggest event of field day; Tug-O-War. The orange is bright and eye-catching to college students roaming halls filled with community/event boards.
I worked soley myself to plan our first annual Gamma Phield Day. We managed our RunSignUp race, updating it frequently with new information for registration. Designing apparel and accessories followed our field day theme and GOTR colors. I worked with GVSU Event’s, Campus Dining, and GVPD to coordinate our Gamma Phield Day event on GVSU’s campus. GVSU’s WHALE Radio donated their time as our DJ with other sponsors such as Amazon Prime, Rockstar, AWAKE! Chocolate, and donations from GVSU’s Panhellenic Board. PR tactics included submitting events on MLive and GRNow, contacting and visiting local GOTR teams, and visiting other Greek chapters to spread the word for high involvement. We had 75 participants for Phield Day who played tug-o-war, kiddie pool battleship, conquered 2 obstacle courses, and tossed water balloons (or threw them at each other – same thing)…all while enjoying some popcorn, cotton candy, and snocones watching the college football game!
Our first annual Gamma Phield Day collectively raised $782.73 to donate to our local chapter of Girls On The Run and $100 to ATO’s philanthropy Fighting MS. We built awesome relationships with everyone who came out and heard great feedback about the thoughtfulness that went into the overall event. I was stoked to see some of our local GOTR chapter participate and cheer us on to continue this event in the future.
